Poker Basics - The Deck - Online Poker Room
Poker games are played with just one deck of cards or more based on the requirement and rules of the poker variant being played. Most of the standard poker games like Texas Holdem, Omaha, Stud and Draw use only one deck of cards. Online Poker Rooms are far developed than real time casinos because there are: • Zero dealer errors. • Zero errors in the showdown and pot splits are mathematical and accurate. The wide variations of poker, which can be played in the Brick and Motor Casino is also present in the Online Poker Room. Unlike in a real casino, there is always traffic for any poker variation you would like to play in online poker rooms.
As previously mentioned the poker games are played with one or more decks of cards. The deck which has 52 playing cards along with the 2 Joker cards are used very rarely in some of the poker variations;
The 4 suits in the poker deck are named after their symbols: • Spade • Heart • Diamond • Clubs
• S is the abbreviation for Spades • H is the abbreviation for Hearts • D is the abbreviation for Diamonds • C is the abbreviation for Clubs
All suits are of equal ranking in standard poker. Card ranks are the main consideration for determining the comparative strength of poker hands between players, suits ranks does not matter in official casino or a tournament game. If there is going to be same hand strengths the pot is split between players.
In some nonstandard poker games, suit ranking is applicable to decide the winning. It should also be noted that suit ranking from high to low varies between different types of non standard poker games, per house rules.
A standardized 52 card deck with 4 suits has 2 colors for the suits: • Black for clubs and spades. • Red for diamonds and hearts.
Some of the online poker rooms have options to use 4 colors for the suits: • Blue for Diamond • Green for Clubs • Red for Hearts • Black for spades
• The 13 card ranks are ranked from 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, Ace (from highest to lowest) • Deuce is the lowest ranking card and ace is the highest ranking card. • It should be noted that Ace can play the low rank in lowball games. • Ace can be high or low based on the variant being played. In high-Low games, it can be used both as a high and low card.
